Max & Otis, the mini Chihuahuas

The History of Max & Otis Designs…

Who are Max & Otis? They are 2 mini chihuahuas that belong to my sister, Sherry. Sherry’s a nurse and I’m an architect and we both inherited the crazy creative and hoarding gene from our mother. One day Sherry showed me the baby onesies she made for her friend’s baby shower and I thought it was a such a great idea I convinced her we should start selling them.

That was the beginnings of the Max & Otis Shirt Company. We had a small online business that was slowly growing… it expanded to custom designs and personalized designs for onesies with the occasional adult or child size shirt.

After I had my daughter, Maya, in 2007 it became too difficult to produce and ship the onesies on my own so I transferred the company to an automated site and pretty much ignored it while I enjoyed my little baby girl..

Now it’s 2011 and the architecture industry has slowed considerably and my little baby is now 3 1/2 and about to enter preschool. That leaves me with a lot more time on my hands!

So it’s time for the all new Max & Otis Designs. We’ve relaunched with new designs and a ton of new products beyond t-shirts. In the upcoming months, Summer 2011, we’ll also be opening the Handcrafted Shop for all the lovely, unique goodies we make. Sherry dabbles in jewelry, baking, candy making and the occasional paper & sticker project. I like to try everything – soap making, paper crafts, rubber stamping, hair clips, graphic design and more.
